Singapore Tour

Many of us rise early this morning to follow our ship’s entrance to Singapore.

Anticipation is high. Eve and I set off after a quick breakfast. Our plan:  Take a bus tour of the city (i.e. avoid too much walking).

The Metro surprises us with its organization and ease of use (subject of a future post). We take the North East Line from the Harbor Front to Clarke Quay station, where we quickly find a Red Line bus.

We make a loop around Chinatown. The steel and glass highrises mix delightfully with colonial era houses.

The bus then loops through the central business district and along Marina Bay.

We alight to transfer to the Yellow Line. A few more of Singapore’s iconic structures appear.

Trees and plants are lush and abundant. They contribute immensely to making the city more livable than it might otherwise be.

Alighting on Orchard Road, we walk a bit before pausing for a drink. We sit on the open patio. The surrounding foliage and overhead fans are a pleasant counterpoint to otherwise icy air conditioning.

Sufficiently hydrated, we head back to the ship for an afternoon nap. Stay tuned.
