Sydney - Day 2 - Coast Walk

Evelyn feels better today. After breakfast we head into the CBD (Central Business District). I am the designated tour leader. Our main goal is the Opera.

It is Monday. The city feels dynamic. Lots of young people are hurrying along the sidewalks. (Am I struck by this only in comparison to our ship?) We reach our goal. Eve takes some photos, but still does not feel 100%, and decides to return to our cabin. She boards the shuttle; I board a city bus to return to the coast for hike.

Starting point: Coogee Beach. Coogee was originally designed to duplicate an English seaside resort. The pier and resort hotel have not survived. The bathers remain.

The next narrow cove, Clovelly Beach,  is enclosed within two rocky promontories.

A large cemetery on the bluff overlooking the ocean at Bronte Beach sparks the imagination.

Tamarama Beach lies secluded in a deep, narrow cove, protected by jagged coastal rock formations.

After 6 plus kilometers, I reach Bondi Beach.

All of the beaches along this coast warn of the dangers of sharks and the dangers of riptides and strong currents. Municipalities have built salt water pools on the oceans edge to permit safe swimming.

My return to the ship finds Eve up and hungry. We head to dinner. Afterwards, we view Sydney at night from the ship before retiring.

Tomorrow we have an excursion to the Blue Mountains.
