One Could Get Used to This

The seas and winds have calmed. We will reach Rio Grande early tomorrow morning. Having left Porto Belo yesterday 10 hours earlier than planned, we are in no hurry to arrive at our destination. The ship is cruising south at a relaxed 10 knots, rather than the typical 15 knots, or 17-18 knots we cruise when making up for lost time.

After several days of excursions, a sea day is almost like a weekend. We do not set the alarm. We eat a leisurely breakfast, then attend an interesting travel lecture regarding our upcoming destination.

Then follows a lap or two around the ship. Some reading. Some napping. Maybe exercise. Maybe a sauna. We generally skip lunch, but make up for it with coffee and cake late in the afternoon.

Then, time to dress for dinner and on to the dining room. Following dinner, there are lots of options: Live music, a stage show, dancing, or perhaps a little night music and drink on the ship’s stern.

Last night we watched an enchanting art house film about the magic of the Tango. Tonight?  We’ll let the stars guide us.

  1. That sounds like a perfect leasurely day! Enjoy! We have cold, but sunny weather in Berlin and I'll take a walk around the Schlachtensee!

  2. PS It inspired me to listen to Lou Reed's song "Perfect Day" which ends with the lyrics: "You are going to reap just what you sow!"
