Milford Sound

We debarked from Port Chalmers, our final stop, at 5 pm yesterday, The ship cruised around New Zealand’s southern tip overnight. Today we  hug the west coast and cruise northeast to Milford Sound.

Milford Sound is actually a deep fjord formed through glacial activity, just as in Norway or Chile. (A sound is technically a river valley that has become flooded and open to the sea.) Our hour long cruise up and back has all on deck for our departing view of New Zealand.
