São Tomé

We cross the equator for the 4th and final time as we approach this tiny independent island country.

We have spent 3 days at sea since leaving Namibia. The weather has been cloudy, and has grown steadily warmer as we head north. We are ready for a land excursion.

But it is not to be. The gusting wind bodes ill for the safe use of the tenders. Dark clouds gathering over the island are also a bad omen.

We weigh anchor and head to Principe, the second largest island of this tiny nation. The captain takes a circuitous route back to the south and rounding the island once more before heading north. Once more into the southern hemisphere. Once more back into the northern. I check to see if water can still drain from the bathroom sink.

We are rewarded with a few good sunset pictures.
