Moorea

This morning the Artania anchored in Opunonu Bay, Moorea.

After breakfast 16 of us set out in a catamaran for a coastal tour.

Moorea is a volcanic island, ringed by a coral reef. A road hugging the coastline, along which the people live, encircles the island.

The inner island is densely forested hills and mountains. The best views of Moorea are from the water.

With its sheltered emerald lagoons and lush vegetation, Moorea is considered a vacation paradise. The consensus among those we spoke with is that one can  blissfully enjoy a short visit here, but it is so far removed from the rest of the world that FOMO would soon take over. Although, who knows. The internet functioned without interruption today, even on the water.

Tomorrow, Papeete!
