We set our clocks back 1 hour on each of the five preceding nights. We traversed only 32 degrees of longitude over these 5 days, thus shifting our experienced sunrise and sunset dramatically. Our current clock setting is GMT-10:00, which is the time zone for Tahiti.
Flying long distances generally means jolting our circadian rhythm suddenly into a new far off time zone. A leisurely sea cruise lets our bodies adapt over multiple days.
Highly civilized, in my humble opinion.
