The Recurring Nightmare
17 March 2023
The Big Decision
I remain astonished at how easily Eve and I decided to spend 5+ months on a cruise ship sailing around the world. The cruise starts on the 22nd of December, 2024 in Hamburg, Germany. 162 days later, we end the cruise in Savona, Italy.
One has to book such a trip relatively early, as the cabins fill up fast. We had toyed with the idea for awhile. Somehow, the time for the decision now seemed right, considering we hurled ourselves last fall into a period of major life changes. We have sold our house in Bremen and will be moving to an apartment in Eve's home town of Brandenburg on the Havel (near Berlin) at the end of 2023. Reasons for this are many. We have been rigorously downsizing (Joe's word, Eve's word is is not for polite comany), simplifying our life so we can spend time comfortably on extended travels. It seems only natural to start this new phase with a major trip.
I am starting a blog early to capture our thoughts about the trip during this planning phase. Updates will infrequent. Once the trip starts, I expect to post regularly.
